Optional parameters
 • place may supplement created to separate date from location found/created.
 • period may be added to describe the era or culture (such as "Greco-Roman").
 • registration distinguishes the unique database or full catalogue number from a collection ID or historic/commonly used ID.
 • height, width, depth and weight are alternatives to using the generic size. If several dimensions are needed it is recommended to use size, to avoid creating an overly complex infobox, by separating dimensions with
, e.g. size = height:6cm
width:2cm
thickness:0.4cm.

English variation

"artifact" is a US spelling. The UK spelling is "artefact" and {{Infobox artefact}} may be used as a valid alternative.
