The Semina Verbi (latin for "Seeds of the Word") wiki is an idea of Father John R. D'Orazio, a priest in the Diocese of Rome, Italy. The technical platform with MediaWiki software was first created in the months between April 2020 and September 2020. The necessary lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the circumstances that were favourable to dedicating time and energy towards installing and configuring the MediaWiki platform for this project.
